1870 illustration of the Wonderful Leaps of Sam Patch
An illustration depicting the daredevil Sam Patch, whose final fatal leap in 1829 took place over the Genesee River's Upper Falls. Sam is shown leaping from a platform while a crowd looks on from the town below. Slide from original color lithograph dated ca. 1870. Caption beneath illustrations: "This illustration and those that follow are reproductions of pages from a children's book published some forty years after Sam's untimely death."
